Pathology Testing

Pathology testing involves taking a snap shot of your body’s molecular components in order to encounter a deeper understanding of how certain systems are functioning.

This is determined by taking a sample of body tissues which are sent off to a lab for specific analysis.

Some of the more common tests that may be requested are as follows:

Complete Microbiome Mapping Test

Understanding the composition of your gut microbiome is crucial for gaining a clear perspective on so many areas of your general health including your digestion, bowel transit issues, mental health, skin conditions, allergies, immune conditions and so much more. Knowing your gut health is the foundation to all other health conditions.

The complete microbiome mapping test will cover the following: PCR (quantatitive): Parasites/Worms, Opportunistic Bacteria, Fungi/Yeast, Bacterial Pathogens, Viral Pathogens, Beneficial Bacteria; plus GIT markers inc. Faecal Occult Blood, Calprotectin, Pancreatic Elastase, sIgA, Zonulin, -glucoronidase, Short Chain Fatty Acids

The test will take around 7 days to recieve results and the cost is approximately $400.

Saliva Hormone Testing

With the amount of stress that is present in our lifestyles this day and age, hormonal imbalances are one of the most common conditions that are seen in my clinical practice. Ordering a saliva hormone test will allow findings for any particular imbalances that may result in regular mood changes, low energy and exhaustion, irregular menstrual cycles, sexual dysfunction, premenstrual symptoms, and weight fluctuations, just to name a few.

A saliva sample will be sent off to the lab for analysis and you will receive your results within 2 weeks of processing. Please note that additional costs are involved to cover the charges of the pathology service.

Pyrrole Testing

Pyroluria, or Pyrrole Disorder is detected in a urine sample that is collected in a specific format at a pathology collection centre. The test is very light sensitive and is required to be frozen instantly and then carefully transported to the lab for further investigation. The lab will test the urine, looking for the levels of HPL being excreted from the body. The higher the levels of HPL, the more severe the Pyrrole diagnosis will be. Although our levels of HPL can vary according the amount of stress we are currently experiencing, it will always remain relatively consistent if left untreated. For the most accurate Pyrrole reading, it is advised to stop all supplementation of Zinc and B6 supplements 3 days prior to testing your urine.

There is approximately a 2 week turn around for the results. Additional charges will occur for this test.

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis

A hair mineral analysis is used to measure the amount of exposure to toxic elements such as heavy metals in the body. Heavy metal toxicity is linked to some neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease and Alzheimer’s, as well as fatigue, autism, ADHA, digestive distress, aching joints, depression, impaired blood sugar regulation and female reproductive condition’s.

A sample of your hair will be sent off to the lab for analysis and a full report will be issued within 2 weeks of processing. Please note that this test incurs further charges as per lab requirements.

Hormone & Neurotransmitter Pathology Testing

Hormones and neurotransmitters play a vital role in keeping our bodies functioning correctly, this is because they are solely responsible for sending messages from one area to the next. If our hormones or neurotransmitters are out of balance, this can lead to a number of disruptions including reproductive issues, mood and energy disorders, weight conditions, sexual dysfunctions and poor memory and concentration.

A urine, saliva or blood sample will be sent off to the lab for analysis and you will receive your results within 2 weeks of processing. Please note that additional costs are involved to cover the charges of the pathology service.

Food/Environmental Allergy and Intolerance Testing

Adverse reactions to food or environmental substances can cause both mild and severe health problems in today’s society. Some of the symptoms that you may experience include fatigue, bloating, diarrhoea, reflux, constipation, irritable moods, acne, eczema, psoriasis, migraines, insomnia, arthritis, asthma, postnasal drip, ear infections, irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease, ADHD, bladder infections, mouth ulcers coughing, depression and weight gain.

A blood sample will be sent to the lab for extensive testing and your results will return within 2 weeks. Please note that additional charges will be involved to cover the pathology service.

Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis

The comprehensive digestive stool analysis is used to assess gastrointestinal function. Some conditions that may result from having incorrect digestion include headaches, multiple sclerosis, brain fog, autism, fatigue, food allergies and sensitivities, ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, bloating, bad breath, rheumatoid arthritis, gastrointestinal cancers, schizophrenia, depression, constipation, coeliac disease, abdominal pain, and weight control issues.

Please note that additional costs will be involved to cover the pathology service.
